Today was finally the last day of Spring Soccer. After several rainouts and rescheduled games, Alex had a 8am game and Sam a 1pm game. Alex played his old team and they played to a tie, first time that team didn’t win all season. Alex has once again improved greatly over the last few months – much more aggressive and going after the ball. It also helped that he was once again healthy today – no cold or allergies. The coaches on both teams asked Alex to come back and play next year. Of course he wants to play in the Fall too, even though he will be playing for Trinity as well.
Sam’s team forfeited their game as they only had 5 players and no coach. Apparently most of the kids and probably the coach were out of town as it is spring break for the public schools. The teams decided to go ahead and scrimmage and Sam’s team picked up a bunch of other players, including Alex as he still had on his uniform. First time Alex and Sam has played on the same team. Maybe in a couple of years Sam will play for Trinity and they will be on the same team again. 🙂
Sam earns 3rd Place in the State!
Sam’s photo of the horse eye with the reflection made it to the Christian schools state competition for all 5th grade and 6th graders and place 3rd overall. Sam was up against all types of other artwork, not just photography. We are very proud of Sam and hopefully he will be entering next year with a vacation photo from the Grand Canyon this summer.
Easter Past…..
Birthday Bash!
We made the most of a dreary, wet day by going to the movies (Captain America) and then later in the evening we went out to Bonefish Grill. We had planned on having a nice dinner at home, but we had a slight crab malfunction and decided to eat out. The boys’ soccer games were cancelled today and Gung Gung took the opportunity to go to Raleigh while we were all at the movies. After Bonefish we came home and celebrated Rod and David’s birthday. As you can see from the photos it was a raucous event and everyone was pretty full after dinner out and birthday cake. Mom of course invested in new birthday hats to torment everyone. To end the evening we watched Ender’s Game (movie) on the apple tv. We all made it to bed around 12am – way passed our normal bedtime. 🙂

Spring Soccer Double Header…
Sam played one game this morning but they had to forfeit the second game as they didn’t have enough players. Not to let a good practice go to waste, they borrowed a couple of players and ended up scrimmaging the other team. Alex slept in and didn’t go to the first game, but he did go to the second game and played about half the game… still feeling a little weak from earlier in the week. Alex seems to feel better now as he is eating more. Here are a couple of photos from Sam’s game.

Junior Varsity Banquet
Mom and Alex attended the Junior Varsity Banquet tonight for Alex’s work on the JV Basketball team this last year. The JV Banquet and next week’s Varsity banquet are a held every year at TCS to show appreciation for these student athletes. Alex will attend next weeks’ banquet for Varsity players for his work on the Varsity Basketball team and the Varsity Soccer team. Alex received an award tonight for the Best Defensive player on the JV Basketball Team. We are very proud of both our boys!
Spring Soccer is underway….
After a lot of rain and cold last weekend for the first week of practice and another practice during the week for both Alex and Sam, the season began today (3/22/2014). Alex had a 8am game and a 10am game this morning and Sam had his game at 11am. Unfortunately, Alex tied his first game and lost to his old team at the second game. Sam was lost his game today, but Sam showed a lot of improvement today and Alex had a couple of great games today – both offense and defense.
