Sam played one game this morning but they had to forfeit the second game as they didn’t have enough players.  Not to let a good practice go to waste, they borrowed a couple of players and ended up scrimmaging the other team.   Alex slept in and didn’t go to the first game, but he did go to the second game and played about half the game… still feeling a little weak from earlier in the week.  Alex seems to feel better now as he is eating more.  Here are a couple of photos from Sam’s game.

By the looks of some of the photos he still doesn’t have quite the right form to be a contender for the next Grand Slam, but he does look “damn good” in his new uniform.

Nope, he is not a French Bull dog and not even a Yellow Lab, but he has a new haircut and we love him just the same….  🙂

Mom and Alex attended the Junior Varsity Banquet tonight for Alex’s work on the JV Basketball team this last year.    The JV Banquet and next week’s Varsity banquet are a held every year at TCS to show appreciation for these student athletes.   Alex will attend next weeks’ banquet for Varsity players for his work on the Varsity Basketball team and the Varsity Soccer team.  Alex received an award tonight for the Best Defensive player on the JV Basketball Team.  We are very proud of both our boys!

After a lot of rain and cold last weekend for the first week of practice and another  practice during the week for both Alex and Sam, the season began today (3/22/2014).  Alex had a 8am game and a 10am game this morning and Sam had his game at 11am.  Unfortunately, Alex tied his first game and lost to his old team at the second game.  Sam was lost his game today, but Sam showed a lot of improvement today and Alex had a couple of great games today – both offense and defense.

After a nice week of weather we have more ice and freezing rain in town for a few days.  Alex learns how the weather can effect his basketball game.  🙂

A really nice weekend in February after back-to-back weeks of snow and ice. Mom and Farley enjoy some time out in the yard. Farley has found a new favorite place on the front deck….

Alex, his friend Zach and Sam played out in the snow back in January after an early dismissal.   They took the time to enjoy the beautiful weather practicing their dunk techniques in the snow….

  Our first snow day was a bust, the boys should have definitely gone to school yesterday… it didn’t really even start the freezing rain until about 4pm.  Unfortunately the freezing rain did last until around 11pm which means that although we only got about 4 inches of snow; we also have about 1/2 inch of ice on the ground/roads first.  The temperature today was also quite colder and should be down in the single digits by late tonight – that doesn’t usually happen here in NC.  That also means that they will have another day off from school on Thursday and our guess is they probably won’t go Friday either… if they do we think it will at least be a 2 hour delay.  The NC Dept of Transportation is urging people not to get out on the roads tomorrow unless they have to as most side streets across the state have not been touched yet.  Keep in mind that it will be over 50 degrees by Sunday.
