This is what happens when you leave Sam and Farley home alone for just a few minutes…

While Sam and Alex were at Camp Waynesboro last month, Mom took the opportunity to fix up Sam’s room with a new color scheme a new bookcase and some cool new night lights. We also re-arranged the room a little and he now has more space to build all of his Legos.

Today we put in a doggie door in the laundry room so Farley can go outside on the deck when we are gone for the day. After some quick training with a hot dog – he was set and ready to go.

How do you beat the heat and boredom…. why go to Target of course and try on hats!

We have lived in Greenville for almost 10 years and we have lived through several hurricanes without losing any trees, but tonight we had a very powerful storm blow through the neighborhood and it took out one of the trees in the backyard. The storm only lasted a couple of hours, but our yard will never be the same.

We went to the Natural History museum today in Raleigh. We got to pet some dead animals and learn what sound a wolf makes, plus we went down 2500ft in a submersible sub…. pretty busy day overall. Glad we are home though.

Farley got a shave and a haircut on Monday – his new summer hairdo, of course it cost quite a bit more than ten cents. He actually looks more like a Lab than a golden retriever now… except for the face – still the beautiful golden Farley we all know and love.

Sam came back from Virginia yesterday and found a package waiting for him from Uncle Les and Aunt Laurie… obviously he was quite excited. Unfortunately he had to wait until this morning to open it since Dad was at work. Mom was extremely excited about Sam’s first present – she has read it herself and they were both excited Sam got his own copy, “Walking with Grandfather” … especially since Sam seems to have a friend visiting him from time to time. Sam also loved his 2nd present the Velociraptor skeleton… Sam and Alex just watched all 3 Jurassic Park movies a couple of weeks ago and Sam wanted to dig into it right away, but we are going to wait for a rainy day to get him started on that one… which means probably later on this afternoon.
