We celebrated Nana’s birthday today – a few days late as this was the first time we all had a chance to get together. Here is a couple of photos of the whole gang together.

We drove up to Waynesboro today to pick up the boys as they had a few days off from school. We got a chance to see Gung Gung’s 1966 Bristol almost completely restored (there was only 47 made that year!). The car looks great and he is going to put it in the car show next weekend. When I asked Sam about the car, he said that he liked the engine the best… of course I didn’t get a photo of the engine.

Alex got to play about 10 minutes at the last Varsity soccer game. Unfortunately TCS lost to the home school kids by a score of 3-2. Fortunately for Alex he didn’t get to play too much because the coach was upset with all of the starters and made them run extra laps after the game.

Today Sam is giving a presentation on the Water Hopper. The Water Hopper is a mythical insect that Sam invented for his project. It is the combination of a Grasshopper and a Water Strider. Here are some photos of his model (he had a little help from Mom).

Alex’s last Varsity game on Tuesday ended in a 5-1 loss, but on Thursday the JV team won 5-2 and most importantly Alex Scored a GOAL. Everyone on the team came out and gave him a High 5 and hugs. The photo below is from the Varsity game.

This year, TCS (Alex’s school) decided to add a JV soccer team. Alex has been getting a lot of playing time on the JV team and today even got an assist! He has also been playing some on the Varsity squad and had a kick on goal last week. Each year he is getting better and better!

I went into the boys bathroom the other day after Sam had taken a bath and realized that he had left all of his dinosaurs in the bathtub. Even though Sam is getting to be a big boy, there is still a part of him that likes to play with his toys in the tub!

Since Rod will be in Atlanta this week, we decided to open one of Alex’s birthday presents early. Uncle Les and Aunt Laurie sent their presents early so we already had them. Lis fixed Tacos for the boys tonight, one of their favorites and then we opened the presents. Alex now understands the meaning of brain teasers… 🙂

Alex and Sam got a new haircut for school. School for them starts in just a couple of days – Monday, August 13.
