Last Saturday’s soccer games were the last of the season and at the opening kick for Sam’s game the temperature was a balmy 36 degrees. Sam’s team lost another game, but once again they had Sam playing striker and he got in some good kicks. Unfortunately Sam’s team spent most of the game playing defense so he was he didn’t stay very warm.
Alex’s team was playing for 1st place in their game and it was quite close – so close that it went to a double sudden death penalty kick. Alex’s friend Matt scored the goal to tie the game with just a couple of minutes left in the game. The first set of 5 penalty kicks ended in another tie. Alex had a score on the second set of penalty kicks and then the game ended on the next to last penalty kick when Alex’s goalie scored the final goal. Quite an exciting game to end the season.
Way too big….
Sam decided he still wanted to play on the inflatables at the Fall Festival last week…. we certainly hope this will be his last year as he was almost bouncing down the slide because he was so big!
Science Project – 100%….
Mom scored….. we mean Sam scored a 100% on his Science project. The project was to create a 3D animal cell. He used a styrofoam balls painted and cut in half as his base and then pipe cleaners, tin foil and candy to finish it off. Since he scored 100% Sam had to take his presentation and present it to the sophomore biology class. Matt and Josh (Alex’s friends) were in the class and led the class in clapping for his presentation.

Soccer Saturday part 3….
Alex’s team continued their unbeaten season winning again today 3-1. We had to tell the coach today that Alex and Josh would not be at the soccer games on the last week tournament weekend as they have a basketball tournament the same day. The coach seemed quite concerned as Matt was going to be the only one left since they all play together so well. Alex’s friend Josh, scored his first goal of the season today too!
A British cap invasion!
BRRRR…. a cold soccer Saturday!
First up was Sam’s team at 9am – starting game time temperature was 45 degrees with a slight wind. Sam’s team kept it un-winning record by losing 4-1. The last time they played this team it was a double-digit loss so they are improving. Sam had a bit of a cold, but still wanted to go out and play. He is improving every game and had some good stops and a one stretch where he kicked it and followed it with another kick… sort of a dribble. We only have a few games left this fall and then spring soccer should help him improve some more before he tries out for Trinity next year (hopefully some summer tutoring too).
Halloween 2014
Trinity Tigers take 2nd Place…
The Tigers lost a tough match to Living Water in their Championship Game on Sunday, final score was 2-1. The good news is that the team still got a nice 2nd Place Trophy and it also received the Christian Samaritan Trophy as well. More importantly, Alex (and 2 of his teammates) was named to be on the All-Tournament Team! There were 4 teams in tournament and each coach was able to vote for who they thought played the best during the tournament, but of course you were not allowed to vote for your own athletes. This means that the other 3 coaches thought he was one of the best players during the tournament! We are all very proud of his accomplishments this year – he has grown a lot both in size and leadership qualities since last year. So the soccer season has ended for the Tigers, but Alex has basketball tryouts on Monday night and practice begins Tuesday. Of course both Sam and Alex still have a few games of Recreation League soccer left in the season. Next year, which is Alex’s Senior year of High School, Alex and Sam will hopefully both be playing for Trinity on the soccer team!
Soccer Semi-Finals!
TCS won a close one today… it only took 4 overtime periods (2x10min and 2x5min) plus a Penalty Kick off which then went into a sudden death kick off. Alex played a pretty good game and had 5 pretty good shots on goal. Unfortunately none of them went in and the game ended at 1-1 tie (Matt had the only goal for TCS). Alex ended up getting hurt in the last few minutes of the last overtime but is feeling much better now after some ice and soaking bath and some food. Sore ankle and cramps from running for over 100 minutes but he should be fine for tomorrow’s Final. The game is at 12pm and if they win the will be the State Champs!
