Trinity Tigers take 2nd Place…

The Tigers lost a tough match to Living Water in their Championship Game on Sunday, final score was 2-1.  The good news is that the team still got a nice 2nd Place Trophy and it also received the Christian Samaritan Trophy as well.  More importantly, Alex (and 2 of his teammates) was named to be on the All-Tournament Team!  There were 4 teams in tournament and each coach was able to vote for who they thought played the best during the tournament, but of course you were not allowed to vote for your own athletes.  This means that the other 3 coaches thought he was one of the best players during the tournament!  We are all very proud of his accomplishments this year – he has grown a lot both in size and leadership qualities since last year.  So the soccer season has ended for the Tigers, but Alex has basketball tryouts on Monday night and practice begins Tuesday.  Of course both Sam and Alex still have a few games of Recreation League soccer left in the season.  Next year, which is Alex’s Senior year of High School, Alex and Sam will hopefully both be playing for Trinity on the soccer team!

Soccer Semi-Finals!

TCS won a close one today… it only took 4 overtime periods (2x10min and 2x5min) plus a Penalty Kick off which then went into a sudden death kick off.   Alex played a pretty good game and had 5 pretty good shots on goal.  Unfortunately none of them went in and the game ended at 1-1 tie (Matt had the only goal for TCS).  Alex ended up getting hurt in the last few minutes of the last overtime but is feeling much better now after some ice and soaking bath and some food.   Sore ankle and cramps from running for over 100 minutes but he should be fine for tomorrow’s Final.  The game is at 12pm and if they win the will be the State Champs!

More Saturday Soccer….

Another Saturday and 3 more soccer games today.  Alex had 2 games and they won both even without Matt playing.  Alex tried to give one of the games away as he made inbound passes to both Zach and Jeremy.  Zach scored on his accidental pass but Alex did come back and score a goal and have a great assist in the game to redeem himself.  Sam’s team once again lost, but Sam is getting much better at midfield and is getting back on defense much quicker too.  Sam had a couple of nice kicks today to save a couple of runs from the opposing team, but also missed a couple… still needs to watch the ball hit his foot.  🙂
No Recreation Games next week as we have Alex’s Tournament to attend in Jacksonville – assuming they win on Friday they will have a Saturday Championship Game, otherwise just a conciliation round on Saturday.

TCS Soccer

Alex had his last home game of the season tonight and they won handily, outscoring the opponent 9-1.  The team needed the win tonight as they suffered a big defeat on Monday night and because this was Senior Day (last home game for the Seniors).  Alex had 3 assists in the game and had some fantastic crosses that they couldn’t connect for goals (one bounced off the crossbar).  Next game is Monday in New Bern and the Tournament starts next Friday in Jacksonville.  After the game tonight, Alex went straight to basketball practice/open gym.  Tryouts for the basketball team will be sometime after the soccer tournament, but we are pretty sure Alex will make the team and we anticipate he will be getting additional playing time this year.

Saturday Soccer!

Another Saturday and two more soccer games.  Same outcome as last week as Alex’s team goes undefeated so far this season and Sam’s team goes winless.   Sam has improved a lot and is getting more aggressive on the pitch.  In Saturday’s game, Sam had another save – keeping the ball out of the box in what would have been a open shot against the goalie.  In addition, Sam took several goal kicks as they wanted the Keeper to stay in the goal.  Alex played well too and had several good crosses to set up some shots on goal, but no assists this week.  Alex’s friend, Matt, suffered a very mild concussion during the game as he took a hit to the head.  His parents took him to the emergency room later in the day and they told him he would have to stay off the field for the next week and miss the TCS games on Monday and Thursday.

Clean Up!

Mom, Sam, Alex, Reid and Drew all went to clean up after the ECU football game today.  Luckily it was an early game so they were home by 6:30pm.  Quote of the day was when Mom pulled into the driveway with the boys and rolled down the window, “That was the most disgusting thing I have ever done!”  Unfortunately Alex has only earned $140 so far which means he still needs another $60 to meet the $200 minimum needed.  Looks like there will be at least one more cleanup this season.

Soccer Saturday….

Another week of Recreation Soccer and Alex pulls in another victory over his friends Zak and Jeremy.   Alex had his friend Matt stay over again on Friday night as they had a 10am game.  After the game Matt, his brother Phillip and Devin all came over for pizza.
Sam and his team lose another but are playing much better.  Sam had a good 1st half playing midfielder and he even saved a goal.  The second half he played defense but was a little lethargic on the field.
