Snow Day – Day 2

January 29, 2014
Our first snow day was a bust, the boys should have definitely gone to school yesterday… it didn’t really even start the freezing rain until about 4pm.  Unfortunately the freezing rain did last until around 11pm which means that although we only got about 4 inches of snow; we also have about 1/2 inch of ice on the ground/roads first.  The temperature today was also quite colder and should be down in the single digits by late tonight – that doesn’t usually happen here in NC.  That also means that they will have another day off from school on Thursday and our guess is they probably won’t go Friday either… if they do we think it will at least be a 2 hour delay.  The NC Dept of Transportation is urging people not to get out on the roads tomorrow unless they have to as most side streets across the state have not been touched yet.  Keep in mind that it will be over 50 degrees by Sunday.

Anyway, we did have some fun today – Sam and Lis went out for 2-3 walks today and of course Farley loved the snow.  He just ran around in the yard and even played with Molly and Dixie across the street.  Later in the day, the whole family made it out for some sledding down the hill and a walk on the golf course.  Most of the day was spent by the fire and Dad made us a cake and then
Mom/Dad had some chili for dinner.  Oh and the best thing is we had a nice fire going most of the day.  Sam got up early and started it for us (after Dad checked it out first of course).

Alex Wiggins??

Alex warming up with the team before a home game.

Nope, at least not yet.  Alex has not taken on the persona of one of the best college players – Andrew Wiggins of KU, but he has improved greatly over the season.   He is getting a lot more playing time on JV and even getting a few minutes on Varsity.  The coaches are giving him praise on his defense, but he still needs to work on his jump shot and his fear of missing it.  🙂

We don’t have too many photos of him as the lighting in the gym isn’t very conducive to shooting with our camera…. maybe time for a new one (it’s only about 8-9 years old!).
