Lis and the boys went up to Virginia over the NC Tax-Free weekend as Rod was working 12 hour days all weekend. They took some time out from visiting with everyone to go to the Park and expend some energy!

Alex started Soccer this year at school, although he is only in 7th grade he still plays with the Seniors. Alex is at a little bit of a disadvantage since his still a little small for his age, but he has been improving each week even though he only gets a few minutes of playing time. Alex also gets to wear a tie to school on each game day…. not sure he likes that as much.

This spring we had a new family move in next door – actually it was across the street in David and Diane’s yard. We had a family of red foxes move in under the deck at Nana’s house. The mother fox eventually moved the whole clan across the street (we counted 6 babies). We think she moved the babies to the wooded area/stream on the other side of the golf course. We still see the mother fox almost every night out hunting for food for the family.

This year we got both Alex and Sam into Trinity Christian school. Alex will be in 7th grade and Sam will be in 2nd. Even though Sam was starting a new school he was excited about being at the same school as Alex. With the new school year they also got a new chore – putting up the dishes!

Earlier in the spring we made a trip to the beach – still a little too cold to jump in the water, but we had plenty of time to play in the sand

The boys got a chance to feed the fish and see all the big river fish in the aquariums. They had a great time visiting Kansas City and Omaha, but everyone is ready to go home… just 2 long plane flights to get there.

After the eventful trip to Omaha, we make it back to KC and spend a day downtown visiting Union Station and drive through the plaza.

One of other stops in Omaha was the Wildlife Park – we got to see all kinds of animals and walked through part of the park to see the wolves and bears. The boys took a lot of photos too and they got to see their first buffalo.

In between all of the sickness, we did make it out to visit a couple of things in Omaha. One of the stops was the Strategic Air Command. We toured a huge building filled with some amazing airplanes – the boys had a great time and spent most of it running around the building.

From KC we went up to Omaha, NE to visit Les, Laurie, Brian and Allie & Calan. The boys had a great time seeing everyone, playing with the dogs and meeting the baby. The trip was very eventful – Sam got sick all over Rod and then spent a lot of time in the bathroom. Lis met us in Omaha after her trip to South Dakota, but she had twisted her ankle and was hobbling around. On top of this Rod, broke an antique bed. Hmmm – hope we get invited back. 🙂
